Pedaling in PEI : Day 7

Saturday, September 3

Montague to Eldon 58km

Waking up to sunshine was a nice change for us and we enjoyed a leisurely morning in our little cottage.

Once we checked out we stopped at the old train station to poke around. Leaving town we had to pedal up a steep hill. That is always a great way to get your blood pumping. We took hwy 4 towards Murray River and had a tail wind to help us along. We had a short break at a gas station before carrying on.

After reaching Murray River we found our way to the trail. This is where we turned west and seemed to climb for quite awhile. Our lunch break was at a picnic table in the woods and we had leftovers from yesterday. Also saw some more interesting mushrooms…

…A dog or two…

…And blueberry fields.

It seemed like we pedaled uphill the whole afternoon. Finally we seemed to emerge from the woods and had a spectacular view from the top.

Our final few kilometers were on a roller coaster of a road. 4 or 5 big ups and big downs…

…finally bringing us into Eldon and a great little grocery store called Cooper’s.

We picked up some tasty food for our supper and then checked in to our cottage for the evening. Laundry was the first order of business and then dinner followed.

We made a new friend too.
